Setting Up Our Florida Home

Setting Up Our Florida Home

Wow, have we been busy since we arrived in Florida in late October! Our new annual site is quite spacious and deep so we have quite a bit of room. We have enjoyed being here from the first day and it feels like home. So far, we are happy with our decision to sign an annual lease and stay in one place for a period of time. We anticipate being here every year from November to early April. I guess we are now officially snowbirds, although we will travel a little bit in the summer to some of the states we have yet to visit. Still fulltime RVers, just doing it a little differently.

Enjoying Summer and Family in Pennsylvania

Enjoying Summer and Family in Pennsylvania

It is hard to believe that it is August already and summer is almost over. Before we start getting ready to head south for the winter, I thought I would update everyone on our summer this year. So far, it is much better than last year - at least no falls and broken bones! We have still had quite a few medical appointments mostly for annual checks and tests although Tim had cataract surgery on both eyes. Those appointments and the daily eye drop regimen has been keeping us fairly busy.

From Sea to Shining Sea

From Sea to Shining Sea

We did it! We have completed a full cross country trip. In the past year, we saw the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico while staying in Florida and now we saw the Pacific Ocean in California. I love that our lifestyle is able to take us to so many beautiful places. When we initially planned our winter travels, we were going to spend the winter in Arizona, with 3 months in Tucson and we didn’t think we would make it to California on this trip.

Visiting Alamogordo and White Sands National Park, New Mexico Part 4

Visiting Alamogordo and White Sands National Park, New Mexico Part 4

Since we were touring New Mexico, I had to book where we could visit White Sands National Park. I remember the very first time I came west many years ago, I expected to see a sandy desert. I was very surprised to see how much vegetation there is and never saw the big sand dunes that I expected. Needless to say White Sands was a bucket list spot to see a true sand desert.

A Slice of Americana

A Slice of Americana

While staying in Batesville, IN, I felt like we got to experience all types of American life: small towns, rural areas and city life. Batesville is a small city centrally located between Cincinnati, Indianapolis and Louisville. We like to stay there at a Thousand Trails campground to visit our daughter Kim and son in law Greg who live in Cincinnati. It is a nice area and we always find plenty to do while Kim and Greg are busy working.

Summer Updates and Fall Travels

Summer Updates and Fall Travels

I can’t believe that I haven’t written a blog post in months and I am sorry for not keeping everyone updated. Life got in the way this past summer with medical issues and work camping taking up all of my time. Thankfully, my arm is finally on the mend although it is going much more slowly than I would like.

2022 Annual Christmas Letter

2022 Annual Christmas Letter

I can’t believe that 2022 is coming to an end and we are into the holiday season. As we look forward to celebrating Christmas in another week, it is a good time to update everyone on our family instead of just writing about Tim and my adventures.  It has been a busy and exciting year for the Senko family filled with many family gatherings and new family members.

Memories of My Parents

Memories of My Parents

My parents were my inspiration for many decisions that I made in my life and the main inspiration to live the RV lifestyle. Even though they didn’t have much money, my parents always made sure that we had family vacations, often staying in cabins or my Dad’s hunting camp, usually somewhere to enjoy being out in nature.

Mountain Exploration in Vermont and New York - New England Final Chapter

Mountain Exploration in Vermont and New York - New England Final Chapter

We finished our New England trip with a visit to Vermont and the Green Mountains. We stayed in the southeast corner of the state near Brattleboro, VT which sits on a river just across from New Hampshire. Our drive there from Maine was very scenic as we crossed through New Hampshire. Even though we were on a state road, it was a fairly easy drive with the RV. I am always a little nervous when we aren’t on an interstate or US highway with this fifth wheel. It is fairly high at 13 ft 5 in so we worry about overhead clearances. Both the RV GPS and the RV Trip Wizard app mapped us that way so we thought it should be fine and it was.

Weather Challenges

Weather Challenges

When we left Florida last spring, we traveled north through Alabama up through the midwest to Indiana and Michigan. Since it was spring, we had a risk of storms coming through and in a couple places in Alabama, we had tornado watches. Luckily we never experienced a tornado warning or an actual tornado. It definitely seemed to us that taking a slightly western route first to head north has an increased risk of severe weather in the spring. So this year, we decided to take a more eastern route and head north up the east coast. That may not have been the best idea!

Another Day in Paradise

Another Day in Paradise

Some people may think that living on the road, must be great. Seeing new places, experiencing new adventures is the life of dreams, right?

Well, I had a new adventure the other day that I will share with my four faithful followers. Deb and I have sort of defined roles regarding the upkeep and chores associated with our travels.

The Weather is Changing and We are Moving

The Weather is Changing and We are Moving

Winter is over so it is time to start migrating north for cooler temperatures as spring and summer heat up. It was definitely getting too warm and humid for us the last couple of weeks and we were ready to head north for spring. We ended up staying a few extra weeks at Three Flags to get our second COVID vaccine. We were excited to get our second shots this past Monday and we both did pretty well after the shots. I had a few mild symptoms for just a day but Tim just had a sore arm. Definitely worth it. In two weeks, we should have immunity and will feel much more comfortable being out and about. I am looking forward to touring more in our upcoming travels.
